Getting started
How to open an account
A step-by-step walk-through of sign-up — from email to wallet, in three minutes.
Opening an account on Xiaomi Crowd Trading takes about three minutes. This article walks through each step so you know exactly what to expect.
Before you start
Make sure you have these handy:
- A valid email address.
- A mobile number you can receive SMS or voice on (for account recovery, not OTP — verification is done by email).
- A government-issued ID (passport, national ID, or driver’s licence) — only needed when you reach step 4.
- A device with a working camera for the identity selfie.
The five steps
- 1Welcome — enter your email or sign in with Google. Choosing Google skips one step entirely (your email is already vouched for).
- 2Identity basics — your legal name, date of birth, country of residence, and mobile number. You can choose a password OR opt into a passkey (Face ID, fingerprint, or hardware key).
- 3Verify your email — we send a 6-digit code to the address you entered. Paste it into the six boxes (or type it in). The code expires in 10 minutes.
- 4KYC L2 verification — selfie + ID via Persona. Most decisions arrive in under a minute. You can skip this and explore in browse-only mode, but trading is locked until you finish.
- 5You’re in — three quick actions on the welcome screen: fund your wallet, explore markets, or browse the catalog. Pick whichever feels right.
What happens if KYC is rejected?
You get three attempts inline. After that, a human reviewer takes over — we will email you within 24 hours with the outcome. While you wait, you can still browse, shop, donate (up to USD 200), and run paper trades.
Why we ask for identity
Brokerage and crypto custody are regulated activities in every jurisdiction we operate in. The KYC step is not optional — it protects you (and us) from fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. We use Persona, the same identity-verification provider trusted by major regulated brokers.
